Today I used different search facilities to do research on my topic
Search Facilities:
Search engine:
Firstly keyword searching then refining your search, extract documents that match all criteria
sort by relevance and then create results page.
Google (
http://www.google.com/)
Altavista (
http://www.altavista.com/)
Askjeeves (

Meta search engine:
(http://www9.org/w9cdrom/165/165.html)Meta search engines and other agent-based search tools provide a uniform query interface for Internet users to search for information. Depending on users' needs, they select relevant sources and map user queries into the target search engines, subsequently merging the results.
IxQuick (

Kartoo (
http://www.kartoo.com/ )
Mamma (
http://www.mamma.com/)
MetaCrawler (

Vivisimo (

Subject directories:
(http://www.techsoup.org/learningcenter/internet/archives/page9212.cfm)Subject directories group Web sites by topic. The information in a subject directory is usually selected and sorted by a human intermediary. Subject Directories are often a good place to start your research.
Yahoo (

Galaxy (

GO Network (

After using different search facilities I managed get more facts relevant to my research topic.
I still prefer using search enigne to do my research more as I used to using it most of times and it enables to find relevant infromation most of time. However, I also support using meta search engines and subject diretories. They provide additional information. In this way, they might be more effective than search engine sometimes. Hence it's best to search using different search facilities.
meta search engine and subject directories are similar
I found meta search engine is quite interesting.
for example,
http://www.kartoo.com/kartoo.com, shows the searching results by mind-map, each key word will link to other apposite word then the website links. I feel it's quite a easy way find the suitable information you want. You can easily get to know the clues of the website by looking at the key word, unlike when using search engine you have to read the title and short description below each link.
-What
benefits do I get when using different search facilities to search for resources related to my topic?
Basically it allows me to obtain more information from more websites and I'm able to find more useful resources relate to my topic.

-How do I
feel about using site feeds in my blog? Would I use this in future?
I think it's quite convenient to use as it enables me to access my friend's blog easily (as no need to memorise their blog url) so I will visit their blogs more frequently to see their updates for references. Hence certainly I will use it in future.
